The successful Reclaim Phase delivered the neglected property via $320,000 of state grants awarded to the Town and on the wings of diverse community volunteerism, time, treasure and talent. The High Desert’s most unique property poised to once again provide deeply engrained, regional story and cultural soul

Descriptive Cartooning; sparing words to see the big picture

“Still suspended from the rafters of our Apple Valley sky, time, neglect, vandals and nature have eroded this once palatial home & meeting center. The potential for a very real and tangible and cultural loss is not simply for those who know of its rich history; rather for the next generation who will never have opportunity to visit and connect with their cultural heritage in the unique way that the Hilltop House Ruins (HHR) offers.” - Steven Richard, 2013. Community with Regional support and ballast instantly emerged in support of these 20 historic acres which overlooked what would become Apple Valley since prehistoric lakes receded. “From Hilltop, you can see the past and the future of the High Desert.” - Rick Piercy.

A Case for the Legacy Trail

HIlltop Junior Board; generational connectivity creates opportunity for sustainable outcomes.

The key educational element known as the Hilltop Junior Board connected the Apple Valley Legacy Trail and Town of AV to an $156,000 clean air grant for this unique learning classroom in the sky. The superintendent of schools, (5) area high schools, their respective principals/teachers , (2) junior board representatives from each school and some 125 students who signed up for the program clearly demonstrated the initiative as merited and a diverse grant magnet for immediate and future funding.
